This week i was inspired by another plant on my balcony’s little garden : purslane.
I love this plant because this is a very generous plant. For several weeks now, my plant is covered in flowers everyday, almost 30-40 flowers a day ! The flower itself is not very durable, they last a few hours only. But everyday ! I started painting this plant during the world watercolor month’s challenge because the prompt abundant was clearly made for this plant. So i painted it on a tiny sheet and you can see the result above on the right.
This little painting was so fun to do that i couldn’t resist to try it again on a bigger sheet for this week’s video. There is no difficulty or specific technique here. I just played with my brush and brush handling in order to make my work easier. The flat brush with a roung edge is the perfect tool for the flowers, because this specific shape makes painting petals so much easier.
For this painting i tried to restrain my color palette and i used mostly a triad : indanthrene blue, nickel azo yellow, winsor red. The only exception is amazonite genuine. I added this color because i like the soft granulation of it and it helps me to get more diversity in the greens.
