Painting a fall landscape in watercolor

This week’s video is about a fall landscape !

I’ve chosen to simplify quite a lot my reference picture (above) in order to keep what’s important for me : the mood. The main elements are still there, the trees, the horizon line, the sky. But i voluntarily leave out some details like the pond and the pathway on the right. It’s mostly to make the work a little bit easier for me as painting a landscape is hard for me but it’s also to make the picture a little bit less busy so that the spectator can get a feel for it right away. As always i’m going for feelings, moods first and realisme second.

  1. Beautiful landscape! You say landscapes aren’t your favorite but I think you do wonderful with them! I’m still anxious to see you use more QOR paints. If you’d like more QOR paints in different colors I’d be happy to share some of what I have with you. I live in Texas so I know they are cheaper here than they probably are there or at least hats what I’ve heard from others that don’t live in the USA. Let me know if you are interested and I’ll be happy to put some in half pans and send some. I might have some DS that you don’t have also? I have more paints than I’ll EVER use. Lol I enjoy watching you paint so much. I learn so much from you. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent! I hope I can learn to relax and just paint like you do someday.
    Sincerely,
    Debbie from Texas
