Abstract blue in watercolor

For this week’s video, i wanted to paint something quite simple and mainly abstract, because i have the feeling that i haven’t paint abstract in a while.

In fact this abstract watercolors are the paintings that push my creativity for more realistic subjects. To cut the constraint of realism (in the sens of painting a recognizable subject) allows me to focus on textures, effects and colors. It’s like a sandbox where everything is possible. When i paint like that i know i’ll learn something each time. And this little something i like, i’ll be able to use it for another watercolor painting !

For this abstract painting, i decide to limit my color palette to blues. This limitation helps me to focus on what i paint and not going in every direction. But as this color palette is cold i like to add some bits of warmer colors to balance it.
