Two years !

This week, maybe few days early, my youtube channel has reached two years of weekly video ! It’s the perfect opportunity to check my improvements. When i started to film my watercolor paintings, it’s was firstly to have a trace of what i’m capable of at this time and also of course to share my passion for this medium. So it appears quite natural to repaint my first painting in order to have a good idea of my improvements !

The subject of this first video was this beautiful bush of asters. It’s an image quite complicated with lots of elements and details. Two years ago i made the choice of simplificate everything. This year, i really want to keep the bushy effect from my reference picture. And first of all i want the dark background that make the flowers show all their transparency.

I’ve tried to use all the experiences i have gathered during this last two years. Balance between soft areas and hard edges, balance between colors and contrasts, balance in marks making with my brush… But i’ve also tried to not overthink all the process and having fun !

And the result is well worth two years of work ! I want also to take this opportunity to thanks all my subscribers (more than 2100 at this time). Thank you for following my work and watching my videos ! I didn’t have any expectation on this but i’m so very happy to be capable of helping beginners and to see some of you following me for quite some times now !
